Traditional St. Martin's Goose Feast
On St. Martin’s Day – 10 November – Martin of Tours, Erfurt’s patron saint, is remembered as well as Martin Luther. For centuries, Erfurt has kept up the tradition of celebrating this autumnal feast day with an opulent meal of roast goose. Towards the end of the year, many restaurants in the city serve this culinary speciality accompanied by Thuringian dumplings with apples and red cabbage. And do also try a deliciously sweet Martinshörnchen, a real treat to have with coffee.
