Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region

Saale-Unstrut wine-growing region

Nature and history have conspired here to create a picture of harmony – romantic vineyards and castles in a magical landscape, all waiting to be discovered and enjoyed. This is the most northerly wine-growing region in Europe. Lining its rivers are not only stunning terraced vineyards but also churches, cathedrals, abbeys, castles and stately homes strung out like pearls on a chain.
Recommended visits during an excursion to the Saale-Unstrut region include Neuenburg Castle, Eckartsburg Castle and Naumburg Cathedral. You can also come face to face with history at the abbey and imperial palace in Memleben.
