Margaretha Reichardt House

The home and weaving house of Erfurt Bauhaus artist Margaretha Reichardt, built in 1939, has been a technical monument since 1987. Following her studies in Dessau, the artist ran a hand-weaving workshop from 1933 onwards, training over 50 weavers and imparting an intellectual and cultural education in the spirit of the Bauhaus. The basement workshop houses working hand looms, on which Reichardt's pupil Christine Leister today demonstrates the art of hand weaving and produces fabrics based on historical patterns.

A tour of the house and workshop is available by appointment. For groups of 5 or more, longer-term registration is required.

Animals may be brought in for disabled visitors.
