Cycling route Thüringer Städtekette
Long-distance cycling route – Cycling along beautiful cities in Thuringia.
The Thuringian City Chain long-distance cycling route connects seven of the most beautiful cities in Thuringia and also passes through scenic areas. The route runs from the Wartburg town of Eisenach in the west, via Gotha, Erfurt, Weimar, and Jena, to the skate city of Altenburg in the east of the state of Thuringia. Over a distance of 225 km, historic city centers, well-known sights, and cultural highlights serve as stage destinations along the way.
Gera-cycling route
The Gera cycle route begins in the Thuringian Forest, right at the Rennsteig. Over a distance of approximately 75 kilometers along the Gera River, active vacationers will encounter a varied landscape, with cultural and historical sights along the way offering diverse discoveries. A few kilometers north of Erfurt, in Gebesee, the Gera cycle route joins the Unstrut cycle route.
Cycling route Radring Erfurt
The Erfurt cycling ring invites you to take a 110 km tour in eight stages around the Thuringian capital, Erfurt, and to immerse yourself in the idyllic rural landscapes of the districts of Sömmerda, Weimarer Land, Ilm-Kreis, and Gotha.
In addition to beautiful and varied landscapes, it is the numerous highlights and informational points along the route that invite you to take a break.
Cycling route Erfurter Seen
The Erfurt Lakes in the north of Thuringia’s capital are dredging lakes created by gravel extraction and are still forming. Cycle paths lead from Erfurt and Sömmerda to the lake area. The well-signposted cycling network “Erfurter Seen” also connects with the Gera cycle path, the Unstrut cycle path, and the long-distance Thuringian City Chain cycle route.
Nessetal-cycling route
The nearly 70 km long Nesse Valley cycle route begins in Erfurt at Benediktsplatz. The route gently ascends and reaches the source area of the Nesse near Frienstedt. It then continues through the northern part of the Gotha district and ends after 55 km in the Wartburg town of Eisenach. The Nesse Valley cycle route is ideal for discovering and enjoying the unspoiled natural and cultural landscapes in a relaxed way.
