Steigerwald Stadium
Erfurt's Steigerwald Stadium is used for football as well as athletics. It has become one of the city's pre-eminent sports venues and has hosted numerous national and international sports events such as the 2007 national German athletics championships and the European Athletics Under-23 Championships in 2003.
In 2009, the opening match of the UEFA Under-17 European Football Championships was held at the Steigerwald Stadium – the home ground of Rot-Weiss Erfurt football club.
