Wartburg bei Eisenach

Eisenach

Eisenach, in the foothills of the Thuringian Forest, has several claims to fame: Wartburg Castle and its medieval singing contest, Luthers translation of the New Testament and Wagners Tannhäuser. But it is as the birthplace of Johann Sebastian Bach that it is known best. Today you can still follow in the footsteps of the great masters by visiting Luthers house, Bachs house or the Reuter Villa with its Richard Wagner collection. Wartburg Castle and the church where J.S. Bach was baptised are also not to be missed.
