Weimar

Weimar

Great poets and philosophers - such as Goethe and Schiller, Wieland and Herder - have all left their mark on classical Weimar. A stroll around the town on the trail of the Bauhaus movement, founded by architect Walter Gropius in 1919, is equally fascinating. There are traces of the towns eventful history at every turn: Goethes house and the Goethe National Museum, Schillers house, Goethes summer house, Belvedere Palace, the Bauhaus Museum and the Weimar House, to mention just a few. The Buchenwald memorial is also close by.
