Thuringian Zoopark Erfurt
At the Thuringian Zoopark Erfurt, more than 1,000 animals from all over the world await discovery across approximately 63 hectares. The zoo is located in the north of the state capital. Among the highlights of Germany’s third-largest scientifically managed zoo are the many spacious enclosures, which are modeled after the animals’ natural habitats. The communal housing of different animal species is playing an increasingly important role. Some enclosures are even walk-through, allowing visitors to get up close and personal with the animals.
The Thuringian Zoopark Erfurt is also strongly committed to species conservation and participates in breeding programs for endangered animal species.
The Bistro on the Plateau serves food and drinks year-round. During the peak season, the Savanna Snack Bar at the African Savanna is also open daily. The zoo shop at the ticket office offers beverages and ice cream during the peak season.

Annual passes are valid for one year from the date of purchase and are personal. Annual passes are only issued at the Zoo ticket office. In the event of misuse, the annual pass will be retained. If you decide to purchase an annual pass during the course of your visit to the zoo, you will be charged the price of the day pass you purchased. This does not apply to day tickets purchased online. A personal photo is required for the annual passes, which must be taken on site at the ticket office or brought along. The latter applies to family members who are not present at the time of issue.

For groups of 15 to 25 people, guided tours behind the scenes of the zoo can be booked from Monday to Sunday from 9:00 am. The last tour starts daily at 14:00. From March to October, you can hire a handcart for €4.00 per day from the zoo store at the main entrance. Please have your identity card ready. Alternatively, a deposit of € 30.00 must be paid at the zoo store. Due to the current situation, blankets for the handcart will not be distributed.
