Hirschgarten
The Hirschgarten was created as part of the construction of the present-day State Chancellery in the 18th century. The grounds quickly became the city's first public green space, which was opened once a week to "respectably dressed townsfolk". The Hirschgarten has undergone many changes over the years, including the planting of rare botanical species and the erection of several monuments. In the 1990s, the park ceased to be maintained due to planned construction works, but was then re-inaugurated as a park - complete with a spacious play area - in 2009 after many years of planning and design. To visit the Hirschgarten, take a no. 2 tram in the direction of Messe/ega and get off at the Angerbrunnen stop. There is also ample parking at the centrally located multi-storey car park Forum 1, which is only five minutes on foot from the Hirschgarten.
