Historical Library of the Protestant Ministry
The library was founded in 1646 as an endowment by Protestant ministers who were united within the Protestant Ministry as an advisory body. The concept of a theological service library with a universal focus shaped the development of the collection for 300 years. Donations from private individuals in the 18th and 19th centuries led to a rapid increase in the number of books. The collection currently comprises around 60,000 volumes, making it one of the most significant ecclesiastical book collections in Germany.
