Andreasried cycling track (Radrennbahn Andreasried)
The Andreasried cycling track, built in 1885, is the oldest cycling track still in use and also one of the most modern cycling tracks in the world.
In December 2009, the city of Erfurt received the "Silver Plaque", the highest award for sports facilities from the International Olympic Committee and the International Association of Sports and Leisure Facilities, for the new construction of the "Radrennbahn Andreasried".
Every year top-class competitions are offered and public festivals are celebrated.
The cycling track is 250 m long, with a specially coated concrete surface. The lane width is 7.50 m with a maximum curve inclination of 41.5°. Both the track and the 4,000 spectator grandstand have a roof. In addition to the racetrack, the 29,200 m² facility includes functional buildings with changing rooms and sanitary facilities, a weight training room, an ergometer room as well as office and sports equipment rooms.
