Kaisersaal

The Imperial Hall in Erfurt is one of the oldest Eventlocations in Europe. The university ball house originated out of three patrician houses at the beginning of the 18th century.

The house was also used as a place for travelling theatre groups and also housed J. W. von Goethe and the Weimarer Theatre managed by him. The Thuringian premiere of Schillers' "Don Carlos" took place here in 1791. Tsar Alexander I spent time here being invited by Napoleon on the occasion of a princes' congress in Erfurt. Further important events were concert evenings with Paganini, Franz Liszt and Clara Schumann.

An SPD-party congress took place in 1891, which passed the Erfurter Programme.

Now the Imperial Hall with orchestra stalls and two tiers, has been brought back to its originally look in 1870. After extensive reconstruction it was reopened as culture and congress centre on the 15th of May 1994.

Today the Imperial Hall maintains its centuries-old tradition as a ballroom, cultural centre and convention venue, combining its extraordinary history and atmosphere with state-of-the-art functionality and a quality in-house-catering.

Its main historical hall with two galleries, six light, airy reception rooms, a bar and the gardens provide an unusual setting for supporting events, congresses, exhibitions, concerts, meetings or parties and can accommodate up to 1000 delegates. All events are accompanied by the excellent in-house gastronomy. In addition, the Kaisersaal offers a comprehensive event service.

A large multi-storey car park, four hotels, numerous shops, boutiques and restaurants, along with Erfurt`s most beautiful attractions, are all within five minutes`walk from the Imperial Hall.
